Life on the Amsterdam canals is alive with movement. Boats passing, markets, the particular energy of a city that never quite stops. 

Our clients, who divide their time between Sydney and Amsterdam, needed this apartment to be the counterpoint to all of that. A place to come home to. 

Their Sydney home is warm, open, sun-soaked,  everything Australia asks of a house. Amsterdam asked for something different. We went back to the city itself for direction: the beams, the traditional palette, the quiet dignity of a canal-side building that has seen centuries pass outside its windows.

Inside, we designed around the rhythms of their Amsterdam life. Enough space for their dog to settle in. A small bar tucked beside the dining table,  because evenings here are for lingering. A generous bedroom suite with an ensuite bathroom designed for slow weekend mornings, when the canal light is soft and there is nowhere to be. The city stays outside. Inside, it is entirely still.
